As a recent empty nester, Turnbull explores themes of growth and belonging through a maternal lens. She combines imagery of plants, birds, and home with geometric compositions to consider the nature of separation and division, as well as a meaningful relationship of parts to the whole. In oil paintings and mixed media drawings, Turnbull explores these growth patterns as metaphors for attachment and independence.
